"Last Summer to Dance made me get up and dance!
Literally! Asbury Park ain't got nothin' on L.A. in the 80s.
Andy & the Rattlesnakes were shakin' it up on this coast
just as "The Boss" was stirring up the East Coast boardwalk.
Put on your blue suede shoes, and dig it!"
– John Densmore, The Doors

Originating in Los Angeles in 1978, Andy and the Rattlesnakes were dubbed "one of the great, lost, eclectic underground rock & roll bands" by the L.A. Weekly, on the heels of the 2006 release of "Last Summer to Dance," the first compilation of their 1980-1981 recordings on Fellaheen Records.

After reuniting with the original band at the Church in Ocean Park, Andy was inspired to put together a group of East Coast all-star musicians to continue the legacy and work on new material.

The current lineup includes Andy Krikun (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jeff Doctorow (guitar), Steve Geller (bass), Bobby Chen (drums), and Peter Furlan (saxophone).

The new Andy and the Rattlesnakes single,
"Ain't That Somethin'" and "You Are My Flame" recorded at O.K. Records, by Greg Talenfeld in Nyack, NY, will be released this Spring.

In the late 70s and early 80s, Andy and the Rattlesnakes captivated L.A. music fans with their exciting live performances. Audiences quickly understood that a Snakes performance was not going to be just another rock-n-roll evening. The band's song list for the night would range from twisted social political punk overtones to solid original R&B songs that stick. Last Summer to Dance is the band's first full-length album, consisting of twelve re-mastered tracks from studio sessions, demos, and live performances at the Taurus Tavern, Venice, California.

"Too punk!" "Too mainstream!" I can hear the catcalls now -- but in 2006, I can hear the music better.  At some point in the last 25 years, their CD turned into classic rock."  -  Jim Cushing, KCPR-FM

"Long ago in a place that is no more the legendary Taurus Tavern in Venice, California - a band called Andy and the Rattlesnakes showed up. They played a tough, streetwise, worldly-wise music. This guy Andy had been around and musically he had something to say about it all - something that included all of it, and included all of us other musicians listened, and the Rattlesnakes had their influence on L.A.s music".
- Michael Ventura

"The group has worked numerous city clubs and built a reputation as rockers with an intriguing mix of originals and rock and soul standards."
- Bill Bentley, L.A. Weekly 1980

"The band does high-energy, solid rock and includes some very intriguing original material. The quality of Andys lyrics, the richness of the music is a lot to digest at first; but Andy sings from his heart and with conviction". - Valerie Geller, Pro-Fun

- "Solitary Man" chosen as a 45 Pick by L.A. Weekly,1980

"Third World Wives" featured on the "Ten of Americas Best New Groups of the 80s" compilation by D.I.Y. magazine. The album also included selections by Black Flag, the Red Rockers, and the Dreamers (Johnette Napolitano with Jim and Earle Mankey)

"Patience" featured on USA Networks TV show "New Wave Theater", hosted by Peter Ivers. The show featured cutting-edge bands of the era including X and many more Los Angeles bands of the early 1980's.
